Commercial scooters are randomly parked around the city, on curbs, on lawns, down alleyways. This makes re-charging difficult, relative to if they are parked in a number of central locations. The above spray painted stencil appeared by the University train station (on university land) during the summer of 2025, presumably for scooter riders commuting to university.
It is possible that a scooter company/ies obtained official permission to paint this stencil (we don't yet have ethics approval to investigate further). But if official permission was not obtained, it could be categorized as graffiti. On closer inspection, there is something a little 'rushed' about the placement of this stencil (slightly frayed edges), which made me suspicious... Clearly more research is required.
